Staging Test

According to Cisco, Internet video now represents 40 percent of internet traffic and may very well reach 62 percent by 2016. Internet video on websites has grow in popularity because embedding video on your website can substantially increase your SEO rankings.

Video itself engages users more. If your site simply has text then the visitor may spend a few moments scanning the page then leave. But video captures their attention for a longer duration. The more time someone spends on your site the higher the rankings. Even a 60 second video has noticeable impact.

If you host the video yourself, be sure to have a clear and concise video sitemap. It makes the video more accessible to search engine spiders. If you opt for third-party video hosting it can direct someone from, say YouTube, back to your site.

Almost every company uses YouTube to engage their customers but with thousands of new videos every week yours can get lost in the shuffle. YouTube is critical for two reasons: it’s the most recognized video site and it’s owned by Google. Having your video appear at the top (and not below the fold) when a related topic is searched gives you optimal visibility.

YouTube also factors in offpage links. The more connected your video is outside of YouTube the better it will be ranked. And the community is a vital part of getting better SEO. The more comments, views, and “thumbs up” you have, the better.

The best way to optimize the video is through the title tag. In YouTube you only have 30 characters so use this wisely. The video can also be tagged with a wide variety of keywords. You can even tag languages and countries for better targeting.

Luckily Liquidus, which can produce your product video on a mass automated scale, does all the keyword tagging and distribution for you. Liquidus has done extensive research on what the best key word tags are for videos. For example, with autos we automatically populate Year, Make, Model, Dealer Name, Mileage, Color, and a host of other highly searched features along with several media keywords as well for optimal SEO.

For more information, SEO.tv has a great article detailing point-by-point how to best optimize your video.

Of course you could always just make a video with someone spewing popular and trending key words like Lady Gaga, Steve Jobs, iPad 3, Google++, earthquake, weather, Buffet, and Palin. But that would be cheating, right? ;-)
