Get to Know…Caitlin Cahalan

icon_gtkCaitlin is a born and bred New Yorker with more adventures and experiences under her belt than most people her age. In addition to her day job at Liqudius, Caitlin is the IL State Communications Coordinator at Team Rubicon, a disaster and relief organization, where she’s constantly volunteering and helping those in need.

She’s also a very proud mom… of 4 Team Rubicony/o terrier mix, Samantha (pictured above) and has a soft spot for rescue animals.

How long have you been with Liquidus? It will be a year in November!

What’s your role at Liquidus and what’s a typical day like for you? I’m an Account Manager, focusing primarily on Paid Search. A typical day includes a lot of client calls and/or emails, pulling reports, checking up on campaigns, organizing my hundreds of clients and their account information.

What are you most proud of working at Liquidus? Growing our paid search business from around 40 accounts to over 100 accounts.

What’s your favorite Liquidus memory? The day I met Tuohy.

Describe your desk. Organized chaos for sure. Centered around my amazing “Cats of 1987” wall calendar.

Enough about work…

Favorite vacation spot? I’ve been to South America a few times, and I absolutely love it.

Celebrity encounter? I saw the NY Rangers goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, on the street in NYC once and I had a total meltdown. He’s indescribably hot in real life.

How would you describe your family? Enthusiastic yet terrible dancers.

Favorite sports team? NY Mets and NY Giants

Chicago original or transplant? Transplant. I am from New York originally and moved here a little over three years ago.

When is your birthday? November 3. Does your personality line up with your astrological sign? Terrifyingly so.

Favorite band? I’m a big fan of 70s rock and singer/songwriters. Jackson Browne, Fleetwood Mac, The Band.

What is the one thing that should be taught in school that isn’t already? How to do your taxes.

In my free time, I like to ___________ or ___________. Do yoga and hang out with my dog.

Do you have any pets? A terrier mix named Samantha.

Any life hacks? Sleep in your workout clothes – it’ll help you get to that 6am bootcamp class.

What was your favorite subject/class in school? English. I still talk to my HS English teacher on a regular basis.

If you could live in a different city or country, where would you live? Cusco, Peru.

What’s your favorite season? Fall Favorite holiday? Thanksgiving

What’s your morning routine? Drinking hot water with lemon. It’s supposed to give you all of the health benefits. Nighttime routine? Snuggles with Samantha.

Favorite TV show? Friday Night Lights

What’s your kryptonite? Cheese. In any and all forms.

What’s your guilty pleasure? Canceling plans.

Who was your college mascot? The Friars – winner of Creepiest College Mascot several years running!

Do you speak any other languages? Regrettably, no.

What do you want to invent? Teleportation. How is that not a thing yet?

How would your friends describe you? Sarcastic. Thoughtful. Generous.

What’s the best gift anyone has ever given you? My best friend Kelly gave me a Nalgene bottle filled with my favorite candy (Sour Patch Kids) many years ago. It was useful, thoughtful, AND delicious.

Who’s your celebrity crush? Kyle Chandler

Are you afraid of anything? Spiders

Pizza. Middle piece or crust? Crust. But to be clear, we’re referring to NY pizza, not Chicago.

Are you superstitious about anything? Not totally, but I do knock on wood and make wishes at 11:11.

Do you believe in ghosts or UFOs? I definitely think there is something supernatural/spiritual out there, I’m just not sure what form it takes.

Do you snooze or wake up when your alarm goes off? Snooze

What’s your pet peeve? How much time do you have? Lately it’s people who don’t take their backpacks or large purses off on a crowded subway. People who misuse the words wary and weary. Indecisiveness. Unnecessary loud noises. Bike riders on the sidewalks. Rampant disregard for the Oxford comma.

Are you an introvert or extrovert? Extroverted introvert (it’s a thing, I swear).

Are you a healthy eater? I’m an aspiring healthy eater but I have no willpower v. cheese and other delicious foods

Favorite food? Pizza (NY only) Least favorite food? Rice

If you were going to sing karaoke what song would you choose? Shoop

What is your strongest personal quality? Resilience

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? It’s a tie between “Combing your eyebrows up is the single best way to open up your whole face” and “You will always learn something from every job you have, even if that thing you learn is that you never want to have that job again” (thanks, parents!)

If you could witness any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be? The Gettysburg Address

What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? Sewing. It seems useful.

What age do you feel right now and why? Maybe 30. Too wise to be in my twenties, still younger than I currently am.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of reality TV? Trashy The holidays? Stressful California? Welcome to the OC, bitch The 90s? Good music, terrible fashion. High school? Plaid uniforms.

What’s something no one would guess about you? I’m a certified chainsaw operator.

Any other fun facts? My bucket list is visiting every presidential homestead/museum – so far I am up to five, so I have a long way to go (Teddy Roosevelt’s is my favorite).

What would you tell your 5 year old self? That weird, crying baby your parents recently brought home will be your best friend once he grows out of his awkward teen years. Be patient, it’s gonna be awesome 16 year old self? Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about staying in on Friday and Saturday nights – you’ll make up for it in college.
